Concordia Sagittaria

Roman colony founded in 42 B.C. between the roman’s road Via Annia and Via Postumia and the Lemene river.

The economic and social development was started after the Second World War and finished in 1970. An important element for human occupation has been the development seaside town near the Adriatic cost.

Important city for archaeological excavations, preserves the all traces of past war and invasion.

Along the Lemene river, was found a sepulchral of the IV-V century called “sepulchral of soldier”; was found remains of roman bridge built on 3 arches long about 11 meters; was found remains of thermal baths on the square in front of the St. Stephan’s Cathedral; was found two imperial’s wells along the street Via dei Pozzi Romani and at the perimeter of city was found the remains of the theatre and the forum.
